Title: Embedding Indigenous perspectives in early childhood curriculum: The role of the non-Indigenous educator.

Presenter: Melinda Miller (Lecturer, School of Early Childhood, QUT)

Melinda's teaching and research interests focus on diversity and social justice. She works with educators in schools and childcare settings to support learning about the why and how of embedding Indigenous perspectives in early childhood curriculum.

Synopsis: This workshop explored why Indigenous perspectives should be present at all times in early childhood curriculum. Examples of ways to embed Indigenous perspectives in teaching and learning in schools and childcare settings were shared. Links were made to the Early Years Learning Framework, Kindergarten Guidelines and National Curriculum documents to consider current education priorities in relation to Indigenous perspectives in early childhood curriculum.
